Will the week ever end?

Damnit! It is only Thursday and this week can't seem to get any slower...

I have been extremely busy while my queen has been away, but it does not seem to have made the time fly.
On Saturday the Wednesday nighter's and I went up to Shuqualak, MS for a friends crawfish boil. A fith of Crown Reserve and many hours later had me questioning if I could still do this at my age!?!
Sunday I got my answer to that question; Not no, but HELL NO!
Anyways, had a good time while I was there. Really cool lake house we stayed @, with an even cooler party shed/bar off to the side.
Monday our little group decided to practice softball...not good after a binge weekend. Our little softball team with a drinking problem started about 6:00pm and quit @ dark. To some that doesn't sound bad...but I must stress that we are a drinking team that has a softball problem...or...it doesn't matter - any way you say it it is still our Wednesday nighter's group!
Tuesday a co-worker and I played in a golf tourney up at Dancing Rabbit in Philly, MS. Course = very nice, our game = very bad! Needless to say, after the binge weekend, softball, then golf...our legs were like jello when we walked off the course and all we could do was moan and whine about it on the ride home.
Wednesday is (of course) our Wednesday nighter's group - enough said...
Thursday (today) we are going to try and make another softball practice...oh the agony! oh the pain...

Don't get me wrong here, have enjoyed all the activities - just seems like after all this and squeezing work in the middle-that time should be flying by. Guess I'm just ready for my queen to get back and hopefully enjoy some relaxing time with her :)

Captain's Log

Day: 3
Time: 15th minute of hour 17
My Queen is off in Prague, and I...I have been faced with the challenge of semi house sitting/and critter care. Little... dog... turds seamingly appear from nowhere - cat hair balls roaming the floors - and...and the flocks of birds. Spock, Spock! The end is nowhere in sight. I would have Scotty beam me up...but the mission, can't fail the mission.....

Time: 18th minute of hour 17
Gotta pull myself together. Can't show any weaknesses...Never, never let them see you sweat. Going...got to...keep...going...

Time: 24th minute of hour 17
Situation stabalized. Turds eliminated. Hairballs eraticated. And...and the birds...the birds are satisfied.

Mission complete...beam me up Scotty!

T-G-I-F!

I have to apologize to all (still just myself) readers out there for not posting in awhile. Have been so busy lately...No, really I have. This has been a strenuous week @ work and @ home. My boss resigned last Friday, clients pissed off, day long seminars, and my beautiful queen leaving tomorrow.

This now makes 2 managers I have survived, the first being the one who hired me.

A client's commercial was running wrong, so I had to put that fire out - fun stuff!

On Wednesday I had to attend my monthly Leadership Lauderdale seminar...Interesting but long. We learn how to be effective leaders, and what challenges our community faces to grow and flourish. Also, we get to tour different businesses, or areas of interest in our town. This week we toured the African-American Historic Business District of Meridian (all 6 square blocks). But, it was pretty cool to see and hear some of the history there. At some point the Starlight Lounge (now closed) saw the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, and others...pretty cool! We are home to the world's oldest African-American owned company, and the only town that had funds donated to two black libraries. This part of town is in bad shape and has been neglected for many years, but just walking around the area reminded me so much of the French Quarter. The feel of blues and jazz is all around you, the style of buildings are very similar, and then there's the people in the area. I would love to see this area's revitalization along with some of the other current projects going on in the downtown area.

And my queen is leaving tomorrow (sniff, sniff) for Prague. Lucky Bitch! :) We have a couple of friends currently working there as teachers, and she is going to visit. I was invited, but low and behold...no $$$ put a damper on that :( . That's OK, I know they will have a great time, and probably enjoy the nice week away. On the flip side - I do not envy the fact that it will take a total of 23 hours from the time she flies out of M-town and into Prague. Ha, ha...I will be eatin' more crawfish and drinking beer for the duration of her flight(s). Poor baby...uh, never mind--it's still Prague for a week! I'll miss ya, and please be careful!!!

A shout-out to Meredith for these pics:

(US - Mexican border)
Can you believe that is an actual person in there? With all of our problems we have here in America...We are still the best country in the world. The proof is in the pudding. People will go to these lengths just to get into America!

Board meeting, Wine, and Mardi Gras?

So...last night my mother and I had a meeting for the little business we have started. You know, bill paying, filing, overall business related junk. Well, we also had to open several bottles of cheap wine, pull out the Hits crackers (Rits knock-offs), and the tub of pimento cheeze...mmm mmm mmm - good stuff! Needless to say, that by 11:00 pm we had no bills paid, 4 files started, and many discussions about random crap! NOW THAT'S A BOARD MEETING!!!
As my mother staggered out the door home (with a go-cup) I couldn't help but think to myself ... "Damn! She just drank all my wine!". Kidding!
It's good to hang out with her every now and then. My mom can be really cool at times, and really funny when she drinks. Hell, my first Mardi Gras experience was when I was 12 years old and she bribed me with a hurricane to go into a gay bar & order it. So right in I went, no shame here. Hey, it was a free hurricane - and I was drinking with good ole mom!

She was also the person who slurred the words "you don't have to go home and go to school. You would miss Fat Tuesday! You can't come to Mardi Gras and miss Fat Tuesday." Needless to say, after several days of drinking w/mom and hanging off light post on Bourbon St. I was hooked. I have been many more times since, but none still compare to that first one! Yay Mom! Thanks!

It's Hump Day!

It's Wednesday, another useless day in the week except for 2 things: Closer to Friday than Monday or Tuesday and it's the weekly meeting for the Wednesday nighters @ Weidmann's.

(Not the enire group, and not exactly Weidmann's, but it will do)

Random 5 minute break material (in no particular order):

: Thanks to "w-o-w" for this one!
Monkey Pimpin!

: My own twist to the previous clip - enjoy ... Monkey Lover!!!

: A shout out to "The Broker" for this little Frank Sinatra parody. Thanks for the laugh!

: Cool re-inactment of the '86 World Series on RBI Baseball. More props to "w-o-w".

: And a big THANK YOU to my queen for this little clip from this Sat's crawfish boil @ the Heifer! Thanks dah-ling!

And last but not least...for all the guys who will not be getting little chocolate bunnies in their Easter baskets this year:

This one is for you!

Random thoughts on Friday...

Sorry to all my readers (ie...myself) about not posting anything this week. Been pretty busy @ work and trying to purchase another house (investment). Going pretty good, might actually be able to pay myself for the first investment property soon...too bad it is already spent on dues for the subdivision I am planning to build in (before I'm 90).

On another note, one of the year's big crawfish boils @ one of the local bars is this weekend - fun, fun, fun! Planning on pinchin' plenty of tail/suckin' plenty of da heads al whilst drinking gallons of beer! It will be even better since my queen will be there (planned trip was cancelled)...beer, friends, beer, crawfish, beer, music, beer, my girl, beer....hmmm, think I see a pattern developing here.

On a sad note...one of my compadre's last day @ work is today. Been called to active duty again. This after only returning from Afganistan back in August from a 1 year tour...but at least this time he will still be stationed here in the states. Off to fight the Bird Flu epidemic...good luck man, don't bring that shit back here!

Have a great weekend! Looks like I will!
